Vocabulario

• Seamstress. Costurera. Marta is a very devoted seamstress. Marta es una costurera muy dedicada.

• Cheekbones. Pómulos. My cheekbones are very prominent. Mis pómulos son muy marcados.

• (Ear) lobe. Lóbulo (de la oreja). The baby has the right ear-lobe inflamed. La bebé tiene el lóbulo derecho inflamado.

• Irritable. Irritable. Over the years some people becomes irritable. Con los años algunas las personas se vuelven irritables.

• Collected. Sereno, tranquilo. My father was always a very peacefull and collected men. Mi padre fue siempre un hombre muy pacífico y sereno.

• Short-tempered. De muy mal genio. She has very short temper. Ella tiene muy mal genio.

Expresiones

• Take after. Parecerse a (en la forma de ser). You take after your father. Te pareces a tu padre.

• To be like. Parecerse a (en la forma de ser). You are like your father. Eres como tu padre.

• Look like. Parecerse a (físicamente). You looks like your father. Te pareces a tu padre.

• Hang up. Colgar. If you don't hang up the clothes I'll hang them up. Si no cuelgas la ropa la colgaré yo.

• Lower/bring down. Rebajar (los precios). We have to lower the prices down. Tuvimos que rebajar los precios.

• Take off. Hacer una rebaja (precio). He took $2000 off!. ¡Me rebajó $2000!.

• Washing machine/washer. Lavadora. The washer has three cycles: wash, rinse and spin. La lavadora tiene tres ciclos: lavado, enjuague y centrifugado. Our washing machine is top-loading. Nuestra lavadora es de carga superior. Take the clothes out and hang them up. Saca la ropa y cuélgala. We don't have utility room. No tenemos cuarto para lavar y planchar.
